The Warrior King 2 brings Tony Jaa back as Kham, a country bumpkin with a soft heart and hard fists. The unlucky fella misplaces his gigantic pet elephant…….again. Slightly peeved, he goes after the man he thinks is responsible for the disappearance. Kham winds up in an unnecessarily complex plot involving an underground fight club and an assassination.
The martial arts from Jaa, is as you would expect, exceptional. However, the film has let him down with quite a few dodgy over the top CGI effects that hinder the film rather than enhance. Female martial arts aficionado Jeeja Yanin (chocolate / raging phoenix) is very good but underplayed. The very sexy and talented Yayaying Rhatha Phongam was used for little more than decoration. She was routinely dressed up in outfits that were quite questionable.
There are some humorous scenes, whether intentional or not. RZAs in it. I shall say nothing else. Warrior King 2 is an average film and disappointing for a man of Jaa’s talents.
